FIATA RAME Focus Overview

FIATA LogoFrom modest beginnings to one of the most exciting regions within FIATA, RAME has taken the spotlight on the global stage as an emerging opportunistic market for logistics. Therefore, it is no surprise that FIATA has given strong focus to the region through newly established terms of references, policy initiatives and training developments to promote sustained growth and increases in well-being. Below are just a few items that FIATA has worked on in recent years. This work will continue to be expanded upon and newer projects will be pursued.

Position Paper on the Yamoussoukro Declaration

Summary: FIATA highlighted that the immediate result of the re-implementation of Yamoussoukro Decision would require little upfront investments.

FIATA at the ICAO event on SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF AIR TRANSPORT IN AFRICA held in Madagascar March 25th – 27th, 2015

Summary: The meeting held discussions around the Yamoussoukro Declaration and the Lome Declaration. Using video technology, FIATA’s Past President, Mr. Jean-Claude Delen, recorded a message for the delegates in attendance at the ICAO meeting.

Young International Freight Forwarders of the Year Award Winners 2012, 2014 and 2015

Summary: FIATA alongside RAME have showcased the immense talent coming out of Region Africa Middle East. The past two winners of FIATA’s Young International Freight Forwarder of the Year Award came out of RAME. This has helped attract young talent to the industry and showcased bright stars which will take a leading role to push the industry forward.

FIATA Training throughout the Region

Summary: The ABVT validates the training programs of FIATA’s Association Member (Nationally) based on a set Minimum Standards established from industry experts broken down into 14 subjects. Validated Associations are then able to issue the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding, a standard recognized at the national and international level. Since September 2015, the ABVT has validated 12 countries with 12 programmes in the Region Africa Middle East.

FIATA Foundation Train the Trainer Programs in Africa Middle East

Summary: The Foundation will delegate a small team of professional trainers to countries which have limited or no resources to implement a qualified training structure. These courses of about two weeks will provide knowledge of the profession, based on the “FIATA Minimum Standards (FMST)” and some basic instruction on how to teach. Training programs have been conducted in Kenya (2004), Ghana (2005), Syria (2009), Ethiopia (2010) and Tanzania (2012) and Zimbabwe (2015).

FIATA Ebola Relief Fund

Summary: In 2014, FIATA started an Ebola relief fund to help fight the Ebola outbreak and to place its worldwide resources at the service of the various international bodies that are taking action against the epidemic.  FIATA was delighted to have received and spent more than USD 100,000 from the industry to support the work to fight Ebola.
